Pag-IBIG Announces to OFW Members to Review their Membership to Avoid Delay in Claiming Benefits

February 11, 2019 By proudbrown

Are you an Overseas Filipino Worker and a Pagibig Fund member or do you know someone who is? Pagibig Fund released a statement regarding membership details so you can prevent delays when you or anyone you know during benefit claims. You use your Pagibig Membership ID during transactions with the agency that’s why it’s important that it is always updated. Kalin Franco-Garcia, Vice President for Public Relations and Information gave the statement after an OFW working in Kuwait mentioned that he has not yet received his retirement benefits after 6 months of applying the claim.

OFW Noel Maglupay told his ordeal to ‘Tapat na Po’ show from ABS-CBN. He said that he went to Pagibig Fund Office in Makati to claim his benefits. He was then told there are still problems from his two former companies. The agency said that this is the reason why they still can’t process the claim; Pagibig Vice President for Public Relations and Information answered by saying that this happened because the contributions of the OFW were processed within the ‘different sectors of the agency’. Because of this, his records need to undergo consolidation before the agency can finalize the claim.

Franco-Garcia mentioned that members should make sure that their contributions are under only one membership ID. He also adds that members should submit their employment history as fast as they can to start the processing. He stressed out that employment history should be complete when they are submitting their claims. He also said that there are 95% of Pagibig Fund members who have problems with their memberships. The solution to this is to submit pertinent records about your membership to the agency. As much as they want to give out the benefits at once, if the problems come from members themselves then there’s not so much they can do but wait for the members to submit all required documents.
