The effects of radiation may eventually take a toll on one’s health after continuous use of gadgets.
Doctors have frequently warned on the effects of too much use of gadgets. According to Dr. Alvina Paulina Santiago, ophthalmologist, the use of gadgets may bring about different eye defects in children. Among these diseases are blurred vision and being cross-eyed. The doctor further added that devoting too much time on gadgets may also bring about myopia or nearsightedness. This is because of the blue light s emitted by the screen of the cellphone, tablet, and television. This will happen if the use of a gadget is more than two hours.
This also makes a child or even adults stay up late at night which will also cause more illness. The eyes may get very tired and it may bring accommodative spasm which happens when a child tries to clear her vision while browsing. This might eventually lead to headache too and worst; having cross-eye. Dry-eye syndrome can also be one of the bad effects of using gadgets often and in long hours.
According to Dr. Santiago, there should be a 1-2-10 rule in using gadgets. There should be a one-foot distance from the cellphone. Two feet distance from the computer should be practiced and ten feet from the television. Having a big font in both the cellphone and computer can also help save the eyes from damage. Dr. Santiago advised parents or guardians to have the eyes checked to start from infancy to be sure that the eyes have no damage.
